What is "My favourite links"?

My favourite links basically shows all the sites that you like and may like to visit at some point or another. This is a unique facility where all your favourite sites/webpages/bookmarks are available at a single place and easily accessible from any computer.

We have provided some default links which are used very frequently and you can always remove the same, if you like, from your Control Panel.

What are the Categories shown here?

We have provided the facility of creating categories of your choice so that you can chose which categories you need to store your links in.

What if I create many categories? It will fill my homepage!

The format of Your Homepage is unique whereby any number of links can be easily displayed and hidden . They will be visible only when you want them to be. You can minimize your links by clicking on the icon on the right corner.

How can I add the links MOST EASILY and COMFORTABLY?

We have provided you a special shortcut – The Fast Link – which can be used by you to create a shortcut on your browser and whenever you find any interesting website or webpage, you can easily add the same.

What is homepage ranking? How is ranking done?

Homepage ranking is the ranking of all the Homepages on Indiashomepage.com. The ranking is done on the basis of usage and viewership of all homepages. Thus if a Homepage is visited more and used more, it will gain in Homepage rank.

How are the homepage points scored?

Homepage points are scored on the basis of:

1. Usage of Own Homepage: The more a homepage is used by the user himself, the more points he will get. Points are awarded for every hour a homepage is open in the user's browser.
2. Clicks on the sites through homepage: For every click on the sites listed on the homepage of a user, he is awarded 2 points. Thus , for example, a user opens Yahoo Mail through the link on his homepage 4 times in a day, he scores 8 points for the same.
3. Every visitor gives points! Every visitor who opens your homepage, GIVES YOU 5 points . So more the number of friends etc you invite to visit your homepage, the more points you add.
4. Points from other members on the site: If any other member Adds You as a friend, you are awarded Very High Points for the same.

Everyone who opens a new Homepage is awarded 100 Startup Points...

What is Homepage Rating?

Rating is the process by which the visitors on the site rate your homepage. Thus, if they like your homepage, they will give you a Good Rating and if they do not like, they will give you a Bad Rating. The purpose of a Rating Rank is that visitors on the site should be able to leave of Vote of liking or disliking when they visit these pages.

What are rating points for different ratings?

Whenever anyone rates your page, you get some rating points. Any visitor can rate your homepage but If the person rating you is a member (who is logged in), you get more points.

Are these points added to the Homepage Rank points?

No. Homepage Rank points are different from Rating points and they are not connected. Rating points are individually accumulated and a user only sees his Rating Rank on the site.

What is RSS?

To remove technical jargon and put it simply, it allows one to see the latest from their favourite sites at some other place (here on your homepage)...

How can I use RSS?

We have provided you with the facility of aggregating your RSS feeds on your homepage. Thus , if BBC news is your favourite news site, you can see the latest information from BBC on YOUR HOMEPAGE . All you have to do is to enter the code from BBC as per the details below:

Step 1 – Go to www.news.bbc.co.uk and look for this sign
Step 2 – Click on this sign. Eg , you click on the Sports Feed
Step 3 – Reach the BBC Sports Feed page and see the link in your browser - it will be something like
              this http://newsrss.bbc.co.uk/rss/sportonline_world_edition/front_page/rss.xml
Step 4 – Copy this link and go to your Control Panel (you should be logged in )
Step 5 – Open the RSS feeds section and paste it in one of the feeds space and save.

Now , you can go to your homepage and See the News from BBC there!!

From how many sites can I add RSS feeds in my Homepage?

You can add RSS feeds from upto 10 of your favourite sites currently.

Use the icon on the right side of the 'My RSS Feeds' to minimize the feeds

What is the advantage of making friends through India's Homepage?

• You get to find people who share common interests.
• You get points when somebody adds you as friend.
• You can send messages to and receive messages from your friends.
• You can exchange your favourite videos, websites etc.

How many points do I get someone adds me as a friend?

You get Very High Points whenever someone adds you as a friend. However, lets keep the exact number of points a secret – though we are sure you will guess that soon!!!

How many friends can I add?

You can add as many friends as you like and increase your community.

Can I create my own groups?

We shall be providing this facility to you shortly and members shall be able to create their own groups.

My Videos

What is the meaning of the section ' My Videos' ? Where can I get videos from?

We have provided this section of ' My Videos' where you can get the select your favourite videos from sites like You Tube etc and display on your homepage. We have shown some videos by default and you can change the same from your control panel.

How can I add videos from Youtube and similar sites to my Homepage?

To give an example of a Video selection from You Tube:

1. Go to Youtube.com.
2. Search for a Video Topic of your interest – eg Funny.
3. Find the video you like.
4. You will find an option of Embed (on the right side of the video).
5. Just copy that link.
6. Come back to your homepage and login.
7. Go to your control panel and go to the My Video section.
8. Paste the code that you took from You Tube here in the space provided for the same and save.
9. Now you are ready to see your video from your Homepage and also show it to your friends by inviting them.
